PPs is flame retardant polypropylene and must not be confused with PPS, polyphenylene sulfide, which is a completely different material. PPs is a flame modified PP-H that meets building fire class B1. The additive makes the material heavier and slightly less impact resistant than standard PP-H.
The density is 0.95 g/cm³, the tensile modulus 1600 MPa and the yield strength 32 MPa. The elongation at yield is 8 percent and the notched Charpy impact strength 6 kJ/m². The ball indentation hardness is 70 MPa, Shore D 72 and the temperature range 0 to +100 °C.
The flame modification means the material burns slowly and goes out by itself. It is not approved for food contact.
PPs is used for structural parts, guards and interior fittings where high fire requirements apply, for example in vehicles, cabins and buildings. The material is machined with saw, mill and drill.
The flame modification can make the surface somewhat harder than standard PP-H, so sharp cutting edges and normal spindle speed are preferable. Welding is done with hot air or a welding rod.
This tube in PPs is gray and measures 5000 mm, which suits pressure lines, tanks, process installations and ducts. With the 5000 mm dimension and the gray surface you get a tube in PPs that is particularly well suited to lines that are to be welded or assembled into systems. Contact us if you want this tube in PPs with the 5000 mm dimension and the gray surface adapted to your needs.
