Tube caster RH30 black

Forty kilos per wheel in the smaller sizes, fifty in the larger. Tube Wheels RH30 are push in wheels in PA6 for round tubes, and unlike many simpler furniture wheels the series comes with stated load figures; you can size the cart for real instead of guessing and hoping. The wheel is mounted straight into the tube end, so the frame leg becomes its own wheel mount without bolted plates or welded brackets.

The series comes in four sizes for tubes with an outside diameter of 32, 35, 38 and 40 mm, all matched to a wall thickness of 1.5 mm. The two smaller sizes have a 20 mm roller and take an axial load of 40 kg per wheel; the two larger have a 25 mm roller and are rated for 50 kg per wheel. Axial here means load along the axis of the tube, that is what presses straight down through the leg when the tube stands vertically as a frame leg. Work out the real load distribution in your structure; on a cart with unevenly placed load one corner always carries more than the others.

The wheel is in PA6 with a matte black surface. Nylon rolls quietly, leaves no rubber marks on the floor and handles oil, cutting fluid and cleaning agents found in a workshop. The material is also not deformed by standing still under load; a cart parked with its load over the holiday rolls just as easily when work starts up again. Toughness in the material means the wheel takes thresholds and edges without chipping.

Typical uses in engineering workshops are material carts, packing tables on wheels, display racks, tool racks and machine guards that need to be rolled aside for service. Tube dimensions 32 to 40 mm are common in exactly this type of base, which means many existing frames can be converted from feet to wheels without a single new hole being drilled. If some legs need to stand fixed there are push in feet for the same tube dimensions, so the whole structure can be built with components from the same family.

Before mounting: cut the tube square, deburr the inside and tap in the wheel with a rubber mallet until it bottoms out. Check that the wall thickness of the tube really is 1.5 mm, because it is the inside diameter that gives the grip. Use the same wheel size on all legs and keep the floor free of chips; small rollers stop against obstacles that larger swivel casters roll over. Should you choose push in wheels or bolt on swivel casters? The swivel caster wins when the cart has to be steered through tight spaces and loaded heavily; the push in wheel wins on price, overall height and simplicity when the need is simply to be able to move something that otherwise stands still. Many carts in the workshop belong to the second category, and there RH30 is a straight answer to the need. If only one end has to roll it works very well to put feet in the other; the hand truck principle works just as well on racks as on carts.

The wheels are supplied in packs of 100 pieces, a volume that suits series production of carts and racks or a maintenance department that wants spare wheels on the shelf. A worn out wheel is pried out and replaced in under a minute, which extends the life of carts whose tube frame has many years left.
