PP Foam is foamed polypropylene where the material has been expanded with closed cells. Foam means foamed, with a cell structure that makes it light. The result is a sheet that weighs considerably less than solid PP while it keeps the chemical resistance of polypropylene.
The density is 0.65 g/cm³, about 70 percent of solid PP.
The tensile modulus is 1100 MPa, the yield strength 22 MPa and the flexural modulus 1200 MPa. Shore D is 71 and Vicat B 80 °C. The melting point is 165 °C. The service temperature sits between -10 °C and +90 °C in long term use, with short term resistance up to 150 °C. The water absorption is below 0.1 percent and the dielectric constant 2.3. The surface resistivity is very high and the fire rating UL 94 HB.
Foamed PP is used for light signs, information boards, panel linings, partition walls, packaging inserts and other applications where low weight matters more than maximum stiffness. The sheet is sawn, milled and drilled with sharp tools and a moderate feed.
This sheet in PP Foam is gray and measures 2000x1000 mm, which suits cutting boards, linings, splash guards and machine guards. With the 2000x1000 mm dimensions and the gray surface you get a sheet in PP Foam that is particularly well suited to large workpieces that are to be cut to size. Would you like this sheet in PP Foam with the 2000x1000 mm dimensions and the gray surface cut or trimmed to your measurements? Add CTS to the cart.
