Benefits of PA6:
High strength: PA6 has relatively high mechanical strength and takes mechanical stress, which makes it ideal for use in slightly more demanding applications.
Wear resistance: PA6 stands up very well to wear and can be used in applications where high wear resistance is required, for example in sports equipment and the automotive industry.
Chemical resistance: PA6 resists chemicals and can be used in environments where it is exposed to chemicals.
Heat resistance: Extruded PA6 takes higher temperatures and can be used in applications where high heat resistance is required.
Easy to machine: PA6 is easy to machine and can be shaped and formed into many different shapes and sizes.
Drawbacks of PA6:
Limited color range: PA6 is usually available in a limited number of colors only.
Sensitive to moisture pickup: PA6 can absorb moisture, which affects dimensional stability.
PA6 is a high performance plastic that suits demanding applications where high strength, wear resistance and heat resistance are required. Its easy machining, chemical resistance and high stiffness make it a popular choice in sports equipment, the automotive industry, the electronics industry and many other trades. But its higher cost and its sensitivity to moisture pickup can be a drawback in some applications.
