Sheet in PS 1406x1006 mm gray

A gray PS sheet at 1406x1006 mm with a smooth surface on both sides. The color runs all the way through the thickness, which keeps edges and cuts clean without finishing work. The smooth surface takes print, decor film and paint well.

PS stands for polystyrene, a stiff, amorphous plastic. Amorphous materials have no melting point; they soften gradually as they are heated. Polystyrene has a hard, smooth surface that takes print and printing ink well, but it is more brittle than ABS and PC for example and should not be used where parts are subjected to repeated mechanical load. It is the cheapest of the common sheet plastics, which makes it good value when the performance requirements are moderate.

The sheet is cut with a circular saw or a jigsaw, milled, drilled and bonded with solvent adhesive. Thermoforming works at low temperature since the material softens gradually. Print, decor films and paint stick well to the surface. For drilling, ordinary twist drills are used, and for CNC milling low depths of cut with good chip clearance are preferred.

The PS sheet suits signs, displays, photo studios, backdrops, interior details and other indoor applications where price and machinability weigh more than mechanical load.
