Gasket in metal-reinforced graphite is a flat graphite gasket with metal reinforcement that seals between two surfaces.
The metal reinforcement sits inside the graphite and holds the gasket together when the joint is tightened.
You place the metal-reinforced graphite gasket between the surfaces and tighten the bolted joint so the seam seals.
