Ball roller BUFO 25 SS

The same basic design as the 25 millimeter model with a flange in the series, but in a stainless version for environments where ordinary steel quickly becomes a problem: food production, wash and rinse zones, chemically loaded premises and unheated spaces where condensation comes and goes with the seasons. The idea is simple: the same function and the same mounting as the standard model, but in a material that takes the environment it is to work in.

The ball diameter is 25 mm and the overall height 14 mm. The dynamic load capacity is 60 kg per unit at 4 km/h according to the manufacturer's data sheet. The flange measures 73 mm in diameter with a collar diameter of 71 mm; the screw holes have a diameter of 5 mm at a center distance of 55.6 mm and the plate thickness is 4.6 mm. The temperature range runs from minus 30 °C to plus 70 °C, and the net weight per unit is 0.15 kg.

Why stainless? Because a ball unit that corrodes stops working long before it looks broken. Even surface rust on the ball or the ball seat raises the rolling resistance, and then the goods start to drag instead of roll; the point loading increases, the wear accelerates and in the end the ball stands still. In damp environments stainless is therefore not a luxury but a functional requirement, and that goes just as much for the hidden parts, inside the unit where the support balls sit, as for the visible surface. You notice the problem first as a heavier push and then as scratches in the base of the goods; by then it is already time to replace units.

The version suits wash down environments and takes the cleaning agents normally used in food and catering operations. Cleaning is at the same time your best friend: rinse away product residue, salt and chemicals regularly and the units last considerably longer. Grit and hard particles pressed against the ball are harmful whatever the material; a clean ball field is a quiet and easy rolling ball field. Avoid steel wool and aggressive mechanical cleaning that scratches the surfaces; a soft brush and rinsing go a long way.

In the field you find this version in crate handling in food production, on work tables in commercial kitchens and wash rooms, at packing stations in the beverage industry, in surface treatment and chemical environments and in cold, damp warehouse spaces. With 60 kg dynamic load capacity per unit the table handles filled crates, cartons and smaller board material; the rule of at least three carrying balls under the goods applies as always, and the spacing is chosen by the smallest goods that occur on the surface. Count on an extra margin in the spacing if the crates have ribbed bases, since ribs can end up between the balls in a layout that is too sparse.

The flange mounting makes installation straightforward: the unit is bolted on top of the board through an existing or newly drilled hole pattern, and replacement takes minutes without special tools. That is worth something in environments with hygiene requirements, where work on the production surface should preferably be short and controlled. Check the hole pattern against the data sheet if the table has previously had other models; the dimensions are close to the standard version of the series but are not identical at every point.

For completely dry workshop and warehouse environments the standard version of the series with a steel ball is plenty, and it is available in several sizes. Choose the stainless one where moisture, chemicals or hygiene requirements actually occur; there it pays for itself in service life and reliability, while in a dry packing hall it is mostly insurance you seldom need to use.
